The Working Committee met four times during the year to discuss various CUSCAA activities. It was decided that we should make more efforts in bringing in new and younger members. The last general meeting held on November 13, 1999 was a great success. The meeting ended with a cultural evening and a contributory dinner. Members were present with their family and friends and everybody had a good time. The annual picnic was held at the Great Seneca Park on June 3, 2000. The weather was good, the food was good – dominated by our signature Bar be Que. It was a great day for the outing. We met six CUSC Alumni in New York to discuss the possibility to open a chapter in New York. The meeting was a great success. We touched on many ideas which were also discussed at the meeting in Banga Sammelan.
The constitution for CUSCAA-North America (NA) has been formally written and the articles of incorporation for CUSCAA has been registered in the state of Maryland. Now we are in the process of getting a Non-Profit status. We thank Asok Motayed to help us with the registration process.
After hosting our web site on free spaces for several years, we established our own web site www.cuscaa.org about a year ago. The site is quite informative. To share your ideas with others please go to our home page. At the top area you will find two buttons labeled: Write your comments here and Please sign in and put your comments there so every can see your comments and everyone can write back. This way we will have good communications going.
Approximately four and a half months ago on July 7th, 2000 we met at the New Jersey Banga Sammelan. We had a gathering of approximately 35 people including few people from the previous New York meeting. We started with a mini cultural event which included a few Rabindra Sangeets and other songs in chorus. We talked about how some of the Science College graduates, residing in the Washington D.C. area, started CUSCAA in 1996 and pursued activities based on goals and objectives that seemed feasible with resources available to them. We had a lively discussion on the concept, and the feasibility
of expanding our organization to other states in the U.S. and Canada. Several other ideas, goals and objectives were also proposed. Here are some of the highlights of the meeting (Compiled by Tapas Pradhan).
In the next Annual meeting on November 18, 2000 we hope to formulate some of the above ideas and implement them in the near future.
