Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS):

This is a Department of Defense-sponsored STEM competition for grades 9-12 who submit original research to the competition to win scholarships. https://jshs.org/

The Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) Program:

This is a five-week summer STEM enrichment program where 4th-11th grade students experience hand-on STEM activities. https://www.usaeop.com/program/frederick/

STEM Mini-Series:

This USAMRDC-hosted program collaborates with the local Frederick County library system to distribute 3,000 take-home kits and host in-person STEM events targeted towards middle school students

Junior Solar Sprint (JSS):

This event is coordinated on the local level for Frederick County. Middle schoolers are able to build a solar car over the course of several months and race their finished cars at this competition. https://tsaweb.org/competitions-programs/programs/solar-sprint
