Our 2024 annual night was a great success. We had to change our regular venue to accommodate a larger audience. Like last year, CUAA-DC felicitated four students across two counties nominated by MCPS Board of Education. In addition, we presented a token appreciation to Northwest High School for their continued support to APIDA program. Furthermore, MCPS BOE recognized CUAA-DC with a certificate to appreciate our wide philanthropic activities. We laid out our plan to promote Bengali books across the public libraries. This year’s প্রাক্তনী celebrated Michael Madhusudan Dutta’s bicentennial and Miranl Sen’s centennial birth anniversary, as many Bengali literature stalwarts, like Dr. Pabitra Sarkar and Kunal Sen, son of Mrinal Sen exclusively wrote in প্রাক্তনী.
CUAA-DC arranged a literary night with eminent poet Srijato. The program was held at a local middle school at Gaithersburg, MD. A large number of audience was enthralled by the poet for more than two hours as Srijaato recited poems and discussed about art and literature. It was a truly memorable summer evening to be cherished for long.
During Summer 2024, we gathered again for annual picnic at Rock Creek park to mingle with friends and discussed our coming year’s plan. The picnic was served with mouth watering foods following the legacy of CUAA-DC.
